I know it is a cliché to say someone is a sports nut or an individual is crazy about a sport, but I have living proof that they really do exist. Just before Christmas of 2014, I was in a Northern city in China. I was walking down a street looking for a taxi. There was an extremely nice park beside a creek, which I have visited before. I know this park is crowded in the summer, but today was very different because it was very cold and there was about two inches of snow on the ground.
In the summer this park is utilized very well, and not just by people walking a pet, cyclists, or children playing. This park is also used as a place for the local people to gather and enjoy life together by singing, playing musical instruments, and doing morning exercises. Well, this day provided me with an unexpected surprise. With snow on the ground and a temperature of about 20 degrees, this is what I saw: a ping pong game!
One opponent is wearing gloves and a hat while the other player doesn’t have either. I must compliment their passion for the game. By the way, they were the only people in the park playing ping pong.
If you look at the background in the next picture, you can see someone sitting on a bench. Granted, the wind wasn’t blowing so that didn’t add to the low temperature, but it wasn’t exactly sitting in the park kind of weather. I don’t know if walking, or sitting, in a park can be considered a sport, but if it is, these people are all fanatics!
