I was recently at the Basilica of Our Lady of Sheshan, which is a very old church built by Jesuits from France. It sits in a National Park in Shanghai, on the highest point in the city. It is a beautiful old structure with stained glass windows, but you will have to take my word for it, because we were not allowed to take pictures inside. The inside was mostly wooden, so I can imagine how difficult it would be to extinguish a fire in an old wooden building sitting on top of the highest point in a city!
To battle the potential hazard, the fire department must practice their skills and techniques to extinguish a fire. On the day I was there, we saw the firemen testing their equipment and themselves.
The view from this area was amazing! If you ever have an opportunity to visit this area, I would suggest taking advantage of the opportunity!
