Before Global Partners in Life started supporting the special needs orphanage, a business man from Europe was working in the city, and he started volunteering at the orphanage. He grew very close to a little boy, and we will give him the English name of Solomon.
Solomon had been abandoned by his parents, because he had a difficulty walking. I think he was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, but I am not 100% sure that was the name of his disorder. Solomon couldn’t walk without his crutches, so it was difficult for him to do many things that most of us take for granted.
The European business man was eventually able to adopt Solomon, and took him to Europe where he performed well in school. While in college, Solomon returned to the special needs orphanage and spent the summer playing with the children and providing care for them. I had the honor of meeting Solomon during a trip while he was assisting at the orphanage.
I am happy to report that Solomon has graduated college and has a degree in the Computer Science field of studies. He sent a picture from his graduation back to the lady that runs the orphanage, and she proudly had it displayed!
I apologize for the poor quality of the photos, but I would like to point out some things from this story! There are way too many other children like Solomon that have been abandoned for health reasons in China. Solomon’s success story clearly shows how with a little effort from the part of others, Solomon and many children like him could and do flourish when given an opportunity. Look at how Solomon was abandoned with a serious health condition, received care and support through the special needs orphanage Global Partners in Life supports, was adopted, and now has a college degree! What a story of challenges and success! Please consider helping the children like Solomon to have a chance to succeed!
