Today I wanted to share with you a couple of funny scenes I encountered during my last trip to China. In the picture below, it will look like a nice palm tree with coconuts. Well, it actually is an artificial tree in a train station in northern China, where there isn’t a palm tree growing for maybe a thousand miles due south of there. I was in this city and at this train station once before waiting on a taxi outside, and it was eighteen degrees below zero! It was so cold that I had to keep blinking my eyes, because the moisture in my eyes was freezing. Also, it probably didn’t get above freezing the day I took this picture.

Keeping with the transportation theme, below you will find a funny picture from a restroom in an airport. If this grosses anyone out, my apologies in advance! This bathroom was very nice and clean, and there is always an attendant there keeping it spotless. The restroom was equipped with urinals that flushed automatically which are driven by an optic or motion sensor. Well, this sensor had a cap over it, which would render it useless, so I thought it was not only funny, but a great way to save water!

Often I wonder what foreign travelers see that strikes them as interesting when they visit the States. If you have read many of my blogs, you know I frequently encourage people to go to China if they have the opportunity and keep their eyes open and their camera ready, because you never know what you might see!
