One of the things the children at the special needs orphanage in China supported by Global Partners in Life enjoy the most when I take a group there to visit, is going to the park. We actually have two options of where to take the children to play, and I think I know which the children prefer.
One of the options is to go to the playground area behind the apartment building where the children live. The second option is to cross a busy street and go to a much larger city park. We really need several adults, because crossing the street and walking up the street a little is scary with all of the children that have been there. Sometimes we have a few in wheelchairs, strollers, and on crutches, so everyone is moving at a different speed. Oh, and we also have some walking and some running as fast as they can!
Once we arrive at the park, there are so many things for the children to do. We take badminton rackets and birdies, sidewalk chalk, jump ropes, and a soccer ball; but I think the bubbles may be the favorite for some of the children.
As you can see in the picture above, the children have gone through several bottles of the bubble blowing solution. To my surprise, even the older children enjoy playing with the bubbles. So this is one of the many ways we try to help the children who have had abandonment and health issues in their lives have a day that all children would enjoy.
