Today I wanted to share with you a story that is sad . . . but it has a fantastic ending. The story starts with a young girl in China who was abandoned by her parents because she wasn’t perfect. You see, this little girl had a hole in her heart, so she couldn’t be active like other children and her fingertips and lips were blue. Also, she had a hernia. But I like to think that her parents abandoned her because they thought her best chance for getting the medical attention she needed was to abandon her. This would be done if the family couldn’t afford the surgeries required for their daughter. Would you like to meet her?
This is one of the earliest photos I have of our little friend. When there was a group of children playing or wrestling around, she would back away from them, because she knew the slightest activity could cause her to have difficulty breathing and getting enough oxygen in her system.
I am very thankful to say that a dear friend and very kindhearted person made a contribution to Global Partners in Life for this little girl’s medical procedures! This happened after the leader of the special needs orphanage called me and said the little girl desperately needed the surgery. I actually have a photo of our young patient right before the operation, which is below.
The surgery to repair the hole in her heart and repair the hernia were both very successful! The best news of all is that our little friend was eventually adopted!
What an honor it is for everyone that supports Global Partners in Life to be part of this life-changing story. This success story and many others about life altering surgeries are made possible by those that choose to follow their hearts and give so that the needs of those that can’t provide for themselves can be met!
